Installation instructions for adhesive PVC (Dryback)
A perfectly laid, self-adhesive PVC floor starts with proper preparation. These practical instructions will help you install the floor professionally and sustainably.
1. Preparation
For adhesive PVC, the surface must be perfectly flat, clean and dry.
-
Leveling: The subfloor must be completely flat and hard, without height differences or springs.
-
Moisture measurement: Check the moisture percentage with a suitable meter to prevent damage.
-
Cleaning: Remove dust, grease and dirt for optimal adhesion.
-
Underfloor heating/cooling: Follow the heating protocol beforehand; we will advise you on this.
-
Acclimatisation: Leave PVC strips in the laying room for 48 hours at a constant temperature.
-
Batch control: Check batch numbers and strips for visible deviations.
2. Installation
Use a high-quality PVC glue (such as Co-pro).
-
Determine the starting line: Lay out two rows of PVC loosely and determine the best laying direction. Mark a straight starting line with a smudge line.
-
Applying the adhesive: Spread the adhesive evenly with a notched trowel. Perform a finger test to ensure the adhesive has dried sufficiently.
-
Laying strips: Place the strips tightly against each other and follow the desired laying pattern.
-
Cutting to size: Cut the strips along the top and break them off neatly.
-
Rolling: Roll the floor firmly with a 50 kg roller and repeat this after approximately 30 minutes.
-
Curing: Keep the temperature constant for 72 hours (18–25 °C) for optimal adhesive adhesion.
-
Tip: Mix strips from different packs for a natural color nuance.
3. Finishing
-
Skirting boards: Use high skirting boards or adhesive skirting boards. Degrease the PVC edges of adhesive skirting boards.
-
Polish (optional): Protect the floor further with a PVC polish for a wear-resistant top layer.
4. Maintenance tips
A stick-on PVC floor is very easy to maintain, but proper care extends its lifespan:
-
Do not use a steam cleaner and avoid aggressive agents.
-
Vacuum regularly and mop with a pH-neutral PVC cleaner (e.g. Co-pro Mat).
-
Place felt pads under furniture to prevent scratches.
-
Use sun protection to limit discoloration from direct sunlight.
-
Place a good doormat (without rubber) at the entrance.
-
Periodically touch up the floor with PVC polish to reduce light signs of wear.
